“Hope for Haiti-India Cares,” charity art auction, Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, 21 March 2010

The devastation caused by the strongest earthquake in Haiti in 200 years, on January 12 of this year was by far one of the most tragic calamities ever seen, much of the capital city of Port-au-Prince been destroyed with over 230,000 people dead and numbers still counting.


With over 40% of Haiti’s population below the age of 14, one of the biggest challenges being faced is that of rehabilitation of children. 1 million childlren have lost either one or both parents.

Hope for Haiti – India Cares is a fund raising initiative, spearheaded by Paul Folmsbee – Consul General of USA in Mumbai, Francois Pujolas – Consul General of France in Mumbai, Gul Kripalani – President-Indian Merchant’s Chamber and Kaveer Shahani – Founder & CEO, Groove Temple Entertainment.
